ANGELINE
LIVE REVIEW
Hopetoun 11th March 2003 / "Official Launch party"
Alternatively speaking the
amount of clinch groups boasting their convenient interpretation of pop culture
on a flavour of the month basis, has been the shameless offering of past industry
standards. A call for an organic mix of honest roots expression has long been
missed. An obvious extension to the new breed of melodic underground was evidently
appreciated in a truly Australian pop culture release recently .
An Artists material, be it poetic or musical is effectively transferred in
the live sense when combined with the rare ability to window an extension
of a performers personality to the audience. On first listen to the debut
release by Angeline aptly named "Finally" the degree of appreciation
is absolute !
Angeline' s live interpretation of material from her debut release "Finally"
is transposed to the stage extremely well . Neat effective lighting coordinates
a dynamic ebb and flow to a musical style that seems to accumulate attention
from a genuinely interested crowd. The vocal ability and personal level
Angeline possesses on stage serves as a wonderful equalizer to a truly original
sound. Her pitch perfect control, raw overtones and subtle balance combine
well to carry the message and varying degree of each song to the group's diverse
following. Guitarist Chris provides some well placed vocal harmony steering
each song through cleverly placed acoustic guitar lines . The phrasing and
structure to Angeline's song writing is what sets this group apart from
past blends of progressive pop. Angelo Frisina's rhythm patterns impact heavily
to provide the necessary groove and natural fee the material demands live
.Bass guitarist Joe ties in some difficult transitions throughout the set
gelling the band together with a brilliant display of deep bleed bottom end
A well produced release justified on stage as one of the best! Finally.

After listening to this stunning debut I was spellbound…the
velvety rich lushness of Angeline’s vocals combined with her capacity
to pen musical poetry, while retaining a raw edge, makes this an exceptional
ep. Songs are haunting and enchanting, as Neville’s vocal range lends
power to themes ranging from the playful to those of a deeply reflective
nature. These explorations and the rare insight they afford, provide the
listener with the opportunity for lyrical appreciation in an inspiring,
fresh way.
A skilled back up as well as Neville’s own guitar rhythms highlight
her angelic voice and guide the listener on this musical odyssey.
Finally....an indie artist with lyrics from the soul
and music for the mind!

Just thought I'd give you a review as we share the
same name, mine's in the front though :)
Great melody. Simple yet, spectacular. The bridge breaks open the whole song
into a huge crescendo and the vocals at the end really kicks the emotion of
the lyrics into your mind. Great song.
